eLearning Day Friday (1/21/2022)

Digital Learning Day Due to Inclement Weather Tomorrow - Friday, January 21, 2022

Friday, January 21, 2022, will be a Digital Learning Day (eLearning Day #3) for the School District of Pickens County due to the potential danger of black ice on roads as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. Students will not attend school in-person.

In an effort to provide parents with as much notice as possible we are making this decision today for eLearning on Friday.

This decision was made after the SDPC Weather Team consulted with Emergency Management regarding the forecast for tomorrow. It does not appear that snow or freezing rain is a concern. However, the temperature tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow morning (Friday) will be at or below freezing for portions of our county, which will make travel on Friday a concern both in the morning and afternoon.

Digital Learning Days allow students to make up days missed to inclement weather or other emergencies by completing a set of assignments within 5 school days (Jan. 28). For students in grades K5-12, most or all of these assignments can be completed on the student's school-issued Chromebook. Students in earlier grades may also be given a list of traditional assignments to complete within five days. Your child's teacher will communicate the details of the assignments for your child's class. Students who do not complete their assignments will be counted as absent for the day. This will be eLearning Day #3 for the 2021-22 school year.

Thank you for your support this week as we adjusted schedules due to inclement weather.
