School Facts

R.C. Edwards Middle School serves sixth through eighth grade students from the Clemson, Central, and Six Mile communities. The unique student body blends the cultural diversity of varied ethnic and international backgrounds. Students maintain respect for one another amid a friendly atmosphere of cooperative learning while a tradition of academic excellence prevails. Built in 1971, the 30-acre campus is located between Central and Six Mile, and has an enrollment of approximately 780 students.

Our sixth, seventh, and eighth graders have had numerous opportunities to showcase their talents in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our Algebra I and English I classes traditionally score very well on the state end-of-course exam. Our MATHCOUNTS teams are perennial favorites in regional competition, and in 2014, one of our students participated in the national competition. Our festival band always performs very well at national competitions; during inaugural years they play at the Heritage Inaugural festival; they travel other years to compete in New York and Chicago. In recent years our athletic teams have distinguished themselves in both the regular season and during tournament play in the Tri-County Middle School Athletic League.

In an effort to invest in the surrounding community, Edwards contributes to many outreach programs. Students and faculty make donations and participate in fundraisers for local charities such as Helping Hands, United Way, and Hoops for Heart, along with many other program opportunities.

R.C. Edwards Middle School has a positive learning environment for students due to the help and support of parents, volunteers, the school improvement council, teachers, and staff. Our PTSO, a parent-teacher-student organization, has worked towards increasing the number of volunteers within our school.
